The Nano conversion has been much spoken about, and a large amount of information is available already concerning these 36v systems. The outstanding Brompton is of course an excellent starting point in order to produce a compact folding electric bike. We do not have much to add to what has been already said by many on this product, other than to confirm that it is a great combination that’s well worth the initial outlay.

- The Brompton - nano 36v in common with our own Dahon conversion is capable of accelerating the user to about 15mph, with or without the rider providing any additional effort with pedalling.
- Nano motor’s free-wheeling capability and relative low weight make it easy to pedal without electric power.
- The controller supports all battery types and capacities enabling complete freedom of battery choice assuming the correct voltage.
- The nano-motor is light and adds only an additional 2.2Kg to the bike, while the battery will typically add 2.7Kg in the recommended 10Ahr configuration - for a range of 30-40 miles.
- Unobtrusive, near silent operation.
- The preferred location for the battery which we use is in the front luggage bag, this slides onto a specially converted luggage block to make the electrical connection without the need to connect wires.
- The folding capability of the Brompton remains unchanged without any additional procedures being required.

A few words about the Brompton bike itself.

t’s our professional opinion, with all things considered like foldability, rideability, portability, manoeuvrability, etc, that no one does it better than Brompton - and more recently they’ve just got even better. Bromptons are the big favourite with commuters, extremely compact when folded, yet in 15 to 20 seconds transforms into a bike that you’ll be proud to ride, with excellent handling around town, or even a joy to ride on those longer trips, with a choice of single, two, three or the new wide range six speed versions that use the new Brompton/Sturmey BWR hub gear. In addition there are options of 12% reduced gearing for those particularly hilly regions.
Finely-engineered and elegant, the Brompton has a full-sized frame, made mainly of steel for strength and stiffness. It is designed to be practical and light enough to be genuinely portable; actual weight depends on model and configuration, but ranges from 9 -12½ kg (20 - 28lbs). Brompton weights are true weights; unlike most bike manufacturers, they include the weight of mudguards, pedals, etc. in their figures - if it’s on the bike as standard they include the weight. The Nano Conversion obviously adds to this weight, the weights given above refer only to the standard bike.
The combination of a rigid frame and accurate alignment makes for efficient transmission of your energy and a lively, first-rate ride; countless owners use them on long journeys and for touring and a good number even prefer the ride of a Brompton to that of conventional bikes.

All Folding Bikes are thoroughly prepared and checked in the workshop (unless we state otherwise on Sale models) in order to validate the warranties, this involves a thorough setup and adjustment of spokes, bearings, brakes, gears (stops and cable adjustment). The chainset and crank, handlebars and all nuts and bolts are checked for tightness and the pedals fitted. Finally the tyre pressures are set and the folding joints and all quick releases are lubricated and adjusted. After a brief test ride (mainly indoor) they are then carefully packed back into the original boxes using appropriate packaging, this means that the bikes when received and unfolded are ‘ready to ride’ . All 26” wheel Dahon bikes arrive in the UK in boxes with the frame unfolded but the bike partially dismantled. We have taken the decision that in order to properly achieve our highest aim and that of the responsible manufacturers with whom we liase, that we therefore, properly prepare then fold the completed bike with only the handlebar removed, it is therefore necessary for us to repackage the bike accordingly on account of it’s larger size when assembled.
