On this page we list some of the special build models that we commonly produce in our workshop, these are always unbeatable value. We are able to do this solely because we bought all the Dahon UK spares up to the end of 2009 as a bulk purchase.  There is a large degree of flexability and we produce some very interesting bikes. We will gradually add to this list as we try different combinations and we intend to cover a wide price range.  We want to offer bikes for those of you who may be occasional riders on a tight budget as well as the enthusiast.

Dahon Vitesse D7 HG    Hub gear versions in both Sturmey Archer 5 speed and Shimano Nexus 7 speed versions, supplied with mudguards, rear carrier and stand.

We can also build 5 & 7 speed Hub Gear bikes using the Mu XL frames in many different specifications which affects the price considerably, but they are all excellent value.

We also build 16” wheel models like the Curve D3’s, a multitude of 20” wheel combinations, and the 24” wheel low stepthru Briza D3 only available in the UK normally as a three speed we can also build 8 speed hub versions Briza D8

Prestolite D3

On this model we took all that was good about the Prestolite, but have given it a more currently popular configuration. The Big Apple 16 x 2.0 tyres, Aluminium front fork, I Beam lightweight seatpost and saddle, Dahon SKS wide mudguards and Arclite rear carrier.The gearing is also higher for you speed fanatics as we have fitted a better quality (Sugino XD 53T) and larger chainset,  than is found on the Curve D3

20” Wheel Custom Models

Impulse D7

We build this special model using the well proven Cro-Mo Impulse frame that has the rebar system which adds support to the joint. We upgrade over the Dahon Speed D7 to Shimano gears with revo-shift, Shimano V- Brakes, Ritchey handlebar, and fit a sealed cartridge B. Bracket unit.  We use the lighter weight I-beam seatpost and the Biologic Comfort I-Beam saddle.  Mudguards, saddle, and side stand are fitted to complete the package.

Helios D7

A special model that we build using mainly the components of the standard Vitesse D7 but with some upgrades including the lighter Helios Brushed Aluminium frame, and puncture resistant tyres.
Obsidian Black, supplied with Mudguards, Carrier and stand.

The graceful, curving lines of the Roo make it easy to overlook the fact that it’s also a wonderful utility bicycle that’s perfect for short distance transport needs. The low-step frame is easy to hop on and off of, the gears are easy to maintain, and the bikes folds in under 15 seconds, so you never need to leave it outside. Our custom model has upgrades over the equivelent current hub geared Dahon’s of sealed Bottom Bracket unit, Shimano V-Brakes, Avid Brake levers, Ritchey handlebar, Arclite rear aluminium rack .

Mu P8 SL

Yes, we can custom build a lightweight MuP8 for you with the Superlight Kinetix Pro wheelset, MKS Ezy pedals and lightweight Kore Seatpost cheaper than the price of the Standard MuP8 !! This bike is also fitted with special edition Schwalbe Kojak black/white 35-406 tyres.

Dahon MuSL 24 - Speed

The bike on the left is a Dahon MuSL which is the superlight model but upgraded to 24 Speed using the excellent Sram Dual Drive System. This adds a little weight  but for many uses the advantages outweigh the minor disadvantage of an extra pound or so.

We are great believers in the advantages of this gear system for those of you who want a very versatile bike.

Dahon MuP24 Special

Our Special model still retains the original FSA Gossamer chainset with aluminium chainring and Sram X-9 Rear Derailleur. - This bike is fast - with a 130”+ top gear - If you’ve got the legs - boy is it fast !

Folds in a manner identical to the standard Mu SL with an external folding handlebar system.

We can build this MuP24 in White, Blue or Magnesium

This again is a very light bike and has a Pantour Suspension Front Hub

This bike is again fitted with the Sram Dual Drive system and the Kinetix Pro wheelset

For comfort we fit the widest saddle available in the I beam series the Biologic Velvet.

Our MuP24 folds in a manner identicalto the standard Mu P8 which has an internal folding handlebar giving a narrower overall folded size when compared to the MuSL.

All Folding Bikes are thoroughly prepared and checked in the workshop (unless we state otherwise on Sale models) in order to validate the warranties, this involves a thorough setup and adjustment of spokes, bearings, brakes, gears (stops and cable adjustment). The chainset and crank, handlebars and all nuts and bolts are checked for tightness and the pedals fitted. Finally the tyre pressures are set and the folding joints and all quick releases are lubricated and adjusted. After a brief test ride (mainly indoor) they are then carefully packed back into the original boxes using appropriate packaging, this means that the bikes when received and unfolded are ‘ready to ride’ .  All 26” wheel Dahon bikes arrive in the UK in boxes with the frame unfolded but the bike partially dismantled. We have taken the decision that in order to properly achieve our highest aim and that of the responsible manufacturers with whom we liase, that we therefore, properly prepare then fold the completed bike with only the handlebar removed, it is therefore necessary for us to repackage the bike accordingly on account of it’s larger size when assembled.
